Fashion Friday: High Elf Warden

You may remember the commotion about Lord of the Rings Online's Mordor expansion earlier this year. One of the gripes about its pricing was that the new High Elf race was only available if you'd buy the deluxe edition for $80,-, or the legendary edition for even more. Other players would have to wait until "winter" and buy it in the in-game store. Well, last week the time was finally there: the High Elf race was available for LOTRO points! And I bought one.

Fashion Friday: Sunflower-picking hobbit

With all the exciting news in Lord of the Rings Online and Star Wars: the Old Republic (Scavenger hunt, Manaan stronghold, Mordor pre-order deals etc), I didn't find the time to write about this year's Summer Festival in LOTRO. Content-wise, my 2016 Summer Festival review still holds true: it's the same festival with the broad varied offer of cute quests. Of course there are some new cosmetics, though; my sunflower-picking hobbit will show you in this LOTRO fashion post.

Fashion Friday: Egg hunter's outfit

It's Easter this weekend, and I'm already looking forward to our egg hunt. Okay, okay, I'm grown up... but what's wrong with some fun? I've been looking for eggs with my family since I was old enough to identify one, so it's a nostalgia thing for me. Also, if I'd be a hobbit I'd still be a tween, so... totally legit.

Fashion Friday: Herald of the moon moth

It's been a while since I posted an in-game outfit. "Fashion Friday" I used to call these posts, as there isn't always a 5 Fandom Friday topic that fits my blog and it is nice to have something relaxing going on the last day for the working week. I'll take the occasion to pick up where I left and share my latest spring look in Lord of the Rings Online.

LOTRO's Farmer's Faire 2016 in pictures

2016 Has somehow developed to "the year of LOTRO festivals" for me. Since my return to the game to try out the new raid and instances, I've begun to feel more involved with it again. Never before did I write so much about LOTRO festivals on Ravalation. I find myself participating in festivals I never tried before (usually because I didn't understand them or because they are around for only a short time): first the Buried Treasure event, and now the Farmer's Faire. Here's another photo report.

Fashion Friday: evil sith inquisitor

Today I'm sharing an outfit with you that, for a change, doesn't cost a billion credits on the galactic trade network by now and is relatively easy to get (provided you have a high level character) - but it still looks really awesome! And you don't have to take my word for it: just before posting this, I saw @Chitonfya post a screenie of their character with a similar dye on Twitter. What can I say, great minds...

The pretty girl with the emo make-up is my new Dark vs Light character Ravadis, a dark side assassin. She has been on my wishlist for a long time, because the female inquisitor's voice is just perfect for evil characters, but somehow all the inquisitors I made previously looked too cute to play pure dark side. Guess what? I'm loving it. Luckily I'm duoing with Marinka, so I have a shoulder to cry on when I feel bad about Ravadis' actions. We're such saints. But I should stop rambling, you want to know what the set pieces are already!

LOTRO's Buried Treasure rewards

In my guide to Lord of the Rings Online's Buried Treasure event, or Treasure Hunt, I promised to post some pictures of the rewards. Shortly after, I got carried away taking pictures (no surprise there), so I reckoned I could just as well post them in a new article.

So here is all the stuff I dug up, as well as some thoughts on their visual appeal, bugs, BoA and RNG. You will see that the event has some great items for role-players and fashionistas, especially for dwarves, burglars and jewellers. Why then does lore-master Ravanel look so depressed on the picture above? Scroll down to find out.

Fashion Friday: Like a Voss

The Voss are not a playable race in Star Wars: the Old Republic, but I'm stubborn (old news, I know) and still wanted to play one. In this post I'll share some ideas on how to play a "head canon Voss character", using Voss inspired clothes, mounts and decorations as your tools. I've also researched Voss names, which you can read all about in the sequel: Lore-appropriate Voss Names. But this post is all about fashion and features my sorcerer Rava-Lae as a living example.

LOTRO hairstyles I'd love for my characters

It's happened to me before and it will happen to me again: bumping into an NPC in Lord of the Rings Online that looks better than your own character. Player customizations barely got upgraded after the initial launch of the game back in 2007, while the developers did keep improving the looks of their NPCs. In this post I'll be sharing some NPC hair styles that I'd love to see in-game for characters one day (but they're not there yet, unfortunately).

Fashion Friday: cute curvy scoundrel

Somewhere during the past week, my boredom with Star Wars: the Old Republic waned a bit and I started feeling the force again. This time, it pulled me towards one of my favourite occupations when new (group) content output is low: playing warzones with friends.

My friend Marinka was having a hard time playing scoundrel DPS, so I decided to roll one myself for the baby PvP bracket. What better way to torture the enemy than hunting them down with two giggling scoundrel girls? I still had a female body type 4 character on my wishlist (never made one*), as well as someone to wear Calo Nord's jacket, which I bought ages ago. I always thought the jacket makes you look a bit fat from the back, so I decided to embrace the look rather than be bothered by it. I also made her look really cute, and guess what, I adore this character! I don't know why I waited with making a body type 4 character for this long. So today I present to you: Ravinne, my cute, naive and slightly silly curvy scoundrel.

Fashion Friday: a Sith-style political statement

You know that feeling when you see something in the cartel market that looks absolutely fabulous, but you have no clue which character would wear it? Well, I do. It happens to me a lot.

I like to make up background stories for my characters. Problem is, many of the really cool looking armour is specific to a certain hero, for instance Bastila and Satele Shan's armour. I always think it feels odd to walk around in the armour that belongs to a celebrity, especially when that person still is alive and active. My characters are no mindless fangirls. But the armour looks so awesome. I need to have this! You will understand: the in-game store provides a great source for inner conflict to me.

Thexan's robe was one of those cartel market pieces I have been drooling at for a while, but never could find a use for. Until today, when I found the perfect excuse to wear it.

Ravalation's Star Wars fashion giveaway (closed)

Last week, I was totally overwhelmed by you all responding in such masses to my Four years of Ravalation post. Blogging started out as a way to do something with my screenies and improve my English, but has become so much more - and not in the least place due to you support. It was about time to do something back, so I've decided to do another giveaway!

As an extension of my Fashion Friday posts I'll be giving away some fashion - Star Wars style, of course. Major thanks go to Constant Warfare for posting my referral, so I had spare cartel coins to fuel this giveaway. You rock!

Fashion Friday: a shadow tank's armour

The Female Geek Bloggers want me to name my five guilty pleasures today. I only have one (watching MLG videos), so that wouldn't make a very interesting blog post; instead, I'll provide you with another outfit for Fashion Friday!

Fashion Friday: a sporty togruta

When I was queueing for baby lowbie PvP with Shintar and Traitine some weeks ago, I found out I had not unlocked my ship on my level 29 togruta sage Ashrava. Bad Rav! Off to Coruscant I went, to find my ship and, hopefully, many pretty screenshot opportunities for my newest SWTOR character.

Fashion Friday: a purple shadow

This Fashion Friday I'm introducing you to my shadow Gaïende, who is very fond of a certain colour (her eyes, the lightsaber crystal, the clothes... you get it). This is her second tanking outfit out of three - and yes, they're all purple! I didn't get a lot of pictures, unfortunately, but I wanted to share it anyway because I'm quite fond of it: it has a lot of different armour pieces from various sources.

Fashion Friday: consular in classic brown

Look around on the fleet and you'll soon notice that brown is not a popular colour for player characters. Bright colours rule: the more fluorescent, the better. In the movies, jedi wear brown robes, though, and I wanted to stick to that theme for my sage, Ravanel. The brown radiates simplicity and humility: ideals shared by the jedi that I felt resonated with my character. I use this outfit when specced for DPS.

A Christmas wishlist - Star Wars edition

This week's 5 Fandom Friday topic was "5 things on your Christmas wishlist". Now I don't usually see the point of wishlists since 1) they just make me want things I cannot afford and 2) Christmas is not celebrated with presents in the Netherlands (we have Sinterklaas for that) so a wishlist at the end of December doesn't make much sense to me, but I made an exception for this one, because of the upcoming The Force Awakens movie. There's just so much cool Star Wars stuff around, it's insane! So here are some Star Wars things I wouldn't mind finding underneath the Christmas tree (if I had one).

Fashion Friday: a two-faced bounty hunter

Yet another week with just the one blog post. As a result of stress, my mood has been bouncing up and down a lot lately - and unfortunately down most of the time. University deadlines, chronic pain & fatigue and a terminally ill dad abroad that's quickly deteriorating seem to provide the perfect cocktail for depression. And depression deprives me of any creativity - creativity sorely needed to write blog posts.

Luckily Conrad's there to save the day, donating some sweet pictures of his powertech Shyala. I hope to show how seeming ugliness has its own beauty.

Fashion Friday: an agent's travelling outfit

It's that day of the week again: Friday! Just a few hours more and you can go home again and relax with some Star Wars: The Old Republic. And just to get you in the mood I've got a lovely agent outfit for you, provided for by operative Syeeda.

Fashion Friday: dressing your jedi for the autumn

You may have noticed a distinct lack 5 Fandom Friday posts on Ravalation today. Don't worry, I'm still loving 5FF, but today's topic was "Things I Love About Halloween" and jedi simply do not care for pumpkins. They do, however, care for fashionable robes. So hereby I'm introducing a new project for those pumpkin-heavy 5FF's: Fashion Friday! That's right, a Friday dedicated to drooling at pretty bathrobes, dreaming you are the one wearing them, elegantly strolling through the Old Republic.
