SWTOR: Dun dun dun

Is has been a while since the last post. I didn't even make my golden one-post-a-week goal, oh my! The worst part is that I even can't seem to feel guilty about it.

The last couple of weeks I've had to digest some bad news. In fact, I'm still digesting it. No, don't worry, I won't fall over and die (yet). I usually keep my personal stuff out of the way of this blog, but I guess in this case it's relevant in the sense that I've spent little time in games lately - simply because I just do not care so much about games right now. I want to spend the time I have on things that I consider meaningful: my studies and the people I care about (uhm, maybe not necessarily in that order!). I guess my life is just a bit more off-line than in games right now and it is hard to find enthusiasm to write here as a result.

School time: priorities in life, anyone?

Oh, I do know games are meaningful. After all, how could they not be when I met my Tiger in an online game? The whole gaming blog network itself is prove that they have meaning. However, for me at this moment other things provide more meaning.

For the record: this does not mean I'm quitting this blog. My posts just might be a bit less numerous right now, because there is enough stress in the world without having to worry about posting schedules. And this is just so that you know.

Enough!

Okay, Rav, enough of this emo-shit already. If you're not providing me with happy stories on your in-game experiences, where should I go else? Besides, why are you taunting me with these sexy vanguard pictures?

I have to admit that I did play *some* Star Wars in the past weeks, although not as actively as usual. I've attended the progression team runs of Obviously on Imp side, and I've played some lowbie PvP on my vanguard Xialin with Tiger and friends. I finally finished chapter 2 of the class story on her, which meant I received my last legacy-wide buff. I now have all four class buffs on every character, so that's worth a little hurray.

Unfortunately, my XO Elara got injured during the chapter, and much to my dismay I found that she is now greyed out from my companion panel! As she is still recovering, I'm forced to play with other companions in her stead. The whole operation had already been quite the challenge because the story forced me to play with Yunn and then Vik as my companions, and they walk around in the green gear I got them with (so they basically just fell over and died in each fight). Normally, I only play with Elara, as I like both her healing and her character. As a result, she is the only one properly geared for my level.

In a rush to get Elara back, I completed the next part of the story and freed some diplomats. However, this still turned out not to be enough: her character is still greyed out on the companion panel. In the meanwhile, Elara's companion bribes gifts keep piling up in my inventory.

Seriously though, I got super scared when I saw Elara lying down like that, I thought she was dead! Even though my virtual crew assured me that her injuries were bad but she was going to be okay, I'm still worried. I guess even in games as much as in life, all I want is just a happy end.

  1. Just commenting to say that you should not worry about a posting schedule. Just write when you feel like it and whenever you do there will be people, like me, who will read it and comment. You have your priorities in the right order (that is, real life first then games then the blog) so don't worry about it. :)

Also I hope things in your real life get better soon. *hugs*

  2. Your posts are always worth the read no matter how frequent. Wishing you the best, and your XO as well.

  3. I can't play post or play as much as I'd like to either.

One thing I found is that commenting on other people's blogs and tweeting a bit is a pretty good way of staying a part of the community and in the conversation.

  4. Whatever it is will get better or eventually get overshadowed by other, good things.

I'll still compulsively click the bookmark even if you're too distracted to write much. Thank you for blogging!

  5. Sorry to hear that things aren't going so well for you right now, but I can relate, as my own posting has dropped off dramatically due to real life reasons as well. You'll be in my thoughts.

Nice to see that you've been making progress on the Vanguard though! And the shameless not colour matching on the companions! Oh my, that Aric...

    1. On the colour matching: I'm innocent! Or, well, mostly. I don't know if you've noticed how the Unify Colours option sometimes bugs out during cut scenes, as well as Hide Headgear? Well, that was what was the case here. I don't let Elara show the stupid helm, either (I do on Jorgan, though, revenge for how he treated me at first back on Ord Mantell!). ;-)

    2. Ah, I know what you mean... I mostly notice it with the hide helmet when my companions suddenly seem to grow something grotesque on their faces which I didn't even know was there. :P

  6. I get your posts in email, so no worries about missing one. I hope everything gets better soon, in game in and in real life.

  7. *hugs* hope you are ok, will be thinking of you. As others have said, post as and when you feel like it, it sounds like worrying about your blog is the last thing you should be doing (although can I request you occasionally post a screeny or something so we know you're ok? :)))

  8. Thank you all for the kind comments, that was unexpected! I won't go anywhere, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm a bit less in games right now. I'll go with Pasduil's advice and leave some comments here and there when I do find myself surfing blogs, although that's not as much as usual either (not your fault, amazing bloggers!). And Eldaeriel, I'll still post here, promise! Thanks again all for the support, you guys remind me what's so awesome about blogs. :)

  9. I hope things calm down for you! I know what you mean about Elara - it makes me furious when they suddenly take away a companion that you've geared or force you to go in with a companion that is ungeared or an unsuitable match to your class. I feel like, yes, it's spoilers, but I want a dang warning that this is going to be the case, if only to strip off relevant armor. On one of my toons, and I won't say which one, one of my tanks has been out of commission for an entire high-level PLANET. Good thing I was using the other tank.

  10. Sorry to hear you're having a more stressful time outside of gaming than usual - hopefully things will set themselves right/better sooner rather than later. In the meantime, positive thoughts and enjoy any happy gaming time you do manage to fit in ^_^. Always a pleasure reading your blog - let me know if you pop into LotRO anytime soon (I have just finished Wildermore, and was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the overall storyline, even if it lacked a decent conclusion --- it seemed so ripe for a 6-man instance, skirmish or even raid!). Isy x
