A modest proposal. Solutions to the grophet overpopulation problem

On Rishi, players are able to observe what happens when things get out of hand

Star Wars: the Old Republic's latest update, 5.2, had one nasty surprise in stock: the tier 4 command crates have a chance to drop... fiery grophet pets. It is no secret that I despise these repugnant little creatures. They remind me of handbag dogs that constantly get spoiled with food by their owners "because they're so cute", or - in the best case - of the final destination of guinea pigs during a Peruvian guinea pig festival (do check out that link if you aren't familiar with this event): on a plate. Indeed, there is a peculiar similarity between the roasted guinea pigs and fiery grophets. Surely this is more than a coincidence; this is fate!

WTB Massively Singleplayer Online Game

A friend just pointed me to someone complaining in LOTRO world chat. Okay, so far nothing new. But several people joined in, in a lament of which the irony just hurts.

"Why do we need to do raids and instances for the featured gear box?"

Good question. Why force players to leave the safety of solo play and expose them to something stressful like carrying out strategies, playing skillfully and exercise social interaction? Wouldn't it be awesome if one could just do something relaxing, such as enjoying the beautiful landscape and picking flowers, to get best in slot gear?

Gamer girl

Hiiiiii there, it's your favourite gamer girl reporting in!

The blogosphere was the decor of a snowball effect last week, set in motion by Pyxis of Gamers Decrypted with the question: What is a gamer? Of course I cannot miss out on this topic, being a gamer girl myself (or so my blog description claims).

Pipe dreams: SWTOR items I'd like to own for reals

Today's 5 Fandom Friday challenge was "five magical items you'd want to own".* Items from Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings were popular, but I wanted to stick to the Star Wars theme for this one. After all, the force is pretty much magic anyway (no, don't even think about those stupid midichlorians). So here I present to you: the five things from Star Wars that I'd love to have in my analog life.

Womp rats > droids

At least when we're talking about ballet. Do you remember those womp rats doing synchronized dancing? Well, it seems these droids on Ilum were jealous of all the attention they were getting on this blog and did their own synchronization attempt. Or they were merely trying to study the womp rat behaviour and imitate it, after good Gree custom. Who knows.

SWTOR characters I would name my children after

I've recently joined the Google+ Female Geek Bloggers community, a group of female bloggers with a weekly challenge called 5 Fandom Friday. The last one was "Characters I'd Name My Kids After". This is one I could relate to. So here are five SWTOR characters I could imagine calling my kids after. If you put a gun to my head. Seriously!

Womp rat ballet

I was tanking the Rakata Prime flashpoint on hardmode and was trying to reset the bonus boss by running away. Of he course he didn't feel like it and sent more and more womp rats after me. Luckily our three sages could quake them down within seconds. It was only then that I noticed how the rats had positioned themselves around me as if it were a form of synchronized dancing.

How to make it to my KOS-list in 5 quick and easy steps

I was playing with my friend Marinka the other day and I thought it'd be fun to show her how PvP works. We queued for the baby lowbie bracket (level 10-29), so we would be up against other inexperienced players. Conrad joined as well. We went over our snipers' skills and I explained focus targeting. We barely had any skills at this low level but who cares, we were having fun.

I'm so popular, everyone wants to play with me... right?

You know how it's customary for MMO players to come up with abbreviations for long titles? Expansions and raids often have long names yet are popular subjects of discussion, so nicknames come in handy. Well, guess with which one they came up for the new Ravagers raid...

Get your walker before it's too late

To all slot machine addicts spending hours on the machine for a mythical walker:
